FAQ

What is CNC prototyping?

CNC prototyping is machining a prototype directly from a solid block or bar on CNC machines, using the production drawing. No tooling is needed, so a working part can be made quickly.

How fast can you make CNC prototypes?

Pure CNC samples take 3–5 days after the drawing is confirmed.

What is the minimum order for CNC prototypes?

Pure CNC starts from 1 piece.

What machines do you use for prototype machining?

3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC milling, CNC turning, mill-turn (turn-mill compound) and special drilling, for parts up to 500 mm.

What tolerance can a CNC prototype hold?

We machine to ±0.01 mm on features where the drawing requires it.

Is CNC machining good for rapid prototyping?

Yes, for metal functional prototypes. CNC parts are made from the real alloy, so they can be used for fit, assembly and load testing.

Which aluminium alloys can you prototype in?

6061 and 7075 are the most common; send your drawing and specified alloy for confirmation.

Can the prototype be anodised?

Yes. Anodising is available for prototypes and production parts.

How do I go from prototype to production?

Once the design is frozen you can stay on CNC or move to forged blanks plus CNC. Forging tooling takes 20–25 days and forged samples about 30 days, with an MOQ of 1,000–5,000.

Do you sign an NDA for prototype drawings?

Yes. An NDA is available on request before you send drawings.
